The city of Vandalia has told a couple to stop its plans to operate a restaurant on Vandalia Lake.

It has also decided to seek a court ruling on the issue.

After meeting is closed session for a little more than 30 minutes on Monday, Mayor Rick Gottman asked Don Sheafor of the city’s legal counsel to explain that the city has asked the firm to ask for a declaratory judgment against Steve “Luke” and Latisha Mabry.

The Mabrys are planning to operate a steakhouse on Vandalia Lake at the bridge on Ill. Route 185.
