    Game dinner to raise archery funds  

    Nimrod Outdoor Ministries is hosting a free wild game dinner on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church on Ill. Route 185 northwest of Vandalia.
    The event will be a fundraiser for the youth archery ministry. Included will be door prizes, raffles and an auction. The grand prize is a new Diamond bow and tree stand package.
    Dinner will be a free-will offering. All proceeds will be used for new equipment for the youth ministry program.

  • BHS Drama Club Performs

    The Brownstown High School Drama Club performed "Check, Please" and "Drugs are Bad" in the BHS gym on Saturday afternoon.

    In the first photo, Tyler Feezel and Kayla Black perform one of the scenes about bad first dates. In the second photo, Jordan Evans and Sarah Swain perform another scene from that part of the program.

    15 Years Ago

    1997 – Kelly McGinnis of Greenville was sentenced to 60 years in prison for the August 1996 murder of Greenville Attorney Tom Meyer.
    By a 4-3 vote, the Vandalia Board of Education rescinded penalties handed down to two students through enforcement of the district’s athletic policy.
    Nathan Graumenz of Vandalia won the state championship in the 135-pound weight class at the state wrestling finals in Champaign. Michael Mabry of VCHS placed fourth in the 125-pound class.
