  • Real Living VRE receives GGAR awards

    Five  realtors from Real Living Vandalia Real Estate were recognized for their performance in 2011 at a recent awards reception hosted by the Greater Gateway Association of Realtors.

  • FCH receives IDPH grant to fund project

    Fayette County Hospital has  been awarded a grant for $356,470 from the  Illinois Department of Public Health for the purchase of digital mammography and C-arm radiology equipment.
    The hospital, through its Friends & Families Foundation, has been raising funds for about  a year in order to purchase the new technology, especially digital mammography.
    In November 2011, the hospital applied for a grant from the Illinois Department of Public Health to assist with the fund-raising efforts.

    Still time to help with summer lunches

    If you were unable to attend Wednesday's volunteer meeting for the Summer Lunches for Kids program, there's still time to sign up to help.
    Those who wish to volunteer for or donate to the program but were unable to attend the meeting are asked to call Pat Rhodes, 283-5372, or Northside Christian Church, 283-1970.
    The mission of the program is to provide children with free and nutritious lunches during the summer months.

    As the culmination of a five-day “week of prayer,” the Vandalia Ministerial Alliance last Thursday sponsored a prayer breakfast at the Crawford-Hale American Legion Home.

    What a great crowd was in attendance at Wesley Hall for Evergreen Outreach on Monday.
    We were entertained by the beautiful music played by Pam Childers. Some of her tunes included: “You Are My Sunshine,” “Oh, My Darling Clementine,” “Home On the Range” and “I’ve Been Working On the Railroad.”

    The Fayette County Board discussed the need to begin addressing problems with the county courthouse.
    At his final meeting as a member of the South Central Illinois Regional Planning & Development Commission, Vandalia Mayor Rich Walker received special recognition from the commission.
