Wednesday's games at the St. Elmo Holiday Tournament WILL be played. 

The slate is as follows:

Game 1 – Altamont (1) vs. Ramsey (8), 5:30 p.m.

We have added to this Web site this week the capability of providing video clips of community events.

Three videos, all from Sunday's dedication ceremony for Vandalia's Looking for Lincoln wayside exhibits, are currently on the Web site.

The addition of videos is among the latest of improvements to www.leaderunion.com. Others include photo galleries and the capability of displaying numerous photos with stories that appear on this site.

• All Tuesday evening activities at Vandalia Junior High School have been canceled.

• Tuesday games at the the St. Elmo Holiday Tournament have been canceled.  Three games will be played on Wednesday and Thursday, with the first game started at 5:30 p.m.

I think I learned more about my dad’s family from my two bachelor uncles, Renatus "Noddy" and Harold Torbeck, than just about anyone else.

Of course, by the time I began to drive out to the German Prairie to visit the pair, they were semi-retired and had the time to visit. Uncle Harold would join right in on the conversation, but Uncle Noddy would more or less study the green patterned linoleum in front of his feet and offer a few words here and there.
