  • Austin takes sixth at state finals

    Vandalia senior Quenten Austin placed sixth in the state finals of the 110-meter hurdles on Saturday. He tied his school record with a time of 0:15.39.

  • Lady Aces win sectional title

    WOODLAWN - Mulberry Grove fended off a late comeback attempt by Woodlawn to win Saturday's sectional title game, 8-5.

    With the win, the Lady Aces advance to Monday's super-sectional game in Carbondale. Mulberry Grove will face Goreville at noon on the campus of Southern Illinois University.

  • Austin makes state finals in 110-meter hurdles

    CHARLESTON — Vandalia senior Quenten Austin qualified for the state track finals in the 110-meter hurdles after placing fifth in the prelims on Thursday.

    Austin, who was seeded 10th, finished the race in a school record 0:15.39; the winner in the prelims ran a 0:14.54. State finals are on Saturday, with running events beginning at 10 a.m. at O'Brien Stadium on the campus of Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.

    Austin placed 11th in the 300-meter hurdles, just missing the cutoff for the finals.

  • Applications accepted for KC's Whitten Scholarship

    The Kaskaskia College Foundation has announced that applications are now available to apply for the Dean of Nursing Mary Lou Whitten Endowed Nursing Scholarship.
    Whitten served as a leader at Kaskaskia College for 21 years for the associate degree nursing, licensed practical nursing and nurse assistant programs, which have graduated more than 2,000 students.

  • SCHS Drive One 4 UR School is Saturday

    Engel Brothers Ford in Farina and South Central High School are partnering from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. this Saturday to help raise up to $6,000 in support of SC Athletes and Future Business Leaders of America members as part of Ford Motor Company’s Drive One 4 UR School program.
    Members of the South Central community will have the opportunity to raise money for the organizations by test-driving a Ford or Lincoln vehicle. For every person who test-drives a vehicle, Ford Motor Co. and Engel Brothers Ford will donate $20 to South Central High School Athletes and FBLA.
