    Trish Elam to mark 20th anniversary at Timmermann & Co.

    Trish Elam, a Certified Public Accountant at Timmermann & Co. of Vandalia will soon mark her 20-year anniversary with the company. Her anniversary date is Feb. 21.


    "Trish is a valuable part of the staff at the accounting firm," said Timmermann. "It would be hard to imagine operating the business without her."
    The business is located at 105 S. Fourth St. in Vandalia.

    1997 – Seven people entered Vandalia’s mayoral race – Sandra Leidner, Charles Hutson, Jim Bray, Kim Shanks, Sheldon Schulte, Everett Jarrett and David Crye Jr. Crye later withdrew from the race.
    The Gallatin Street Grille opened at 524 W. Gallatin St. in downtown Vandalia.
    Marvin and Dorothy Huskey of rural Brownstown celebrated their 50th anniversary.

    But it was as a college coach and administrator that she really pushed the envelope for women. And she was a crucial part of the nationwide effort to institutionalize those gains for collegiate women athletes.

  • St. Elmo Wall of Fame ceremony is Saturday night

    The St. Elmo High School boys basketball game against Mulberry Grove and the Wall of Fame ceremony were canceled Friday night and rescheduled for Saturday night. The ceremony will take place between the varsity and JV games, with the JV starting at 6:15 p.m.

  • City makes offer on land near city garage

    In a special meeting on Thursday, the Vandalia City Council voted to make an offer on property just south of the city garage.

    The city is offering to pay Tri-County Petroleum Inc. $112,500 for the property, which is a little more than 1 acre, according to Keith Schaal of Schaal & Associates Real Estate in Vandalia.

    Public Works Director John Moyer said after the meeting that the city needs to purchase the property in order to ensure that it can continue to get the department's trucks in and out of the garage on the west side of the property.
