  • BHS Prom Candidates

    The Browntown High School prom will be held this Saturday from 8-11 p.m. in the BHS gym, with coronation set for 8 p.m.

    The prom queen and king candidates are shown here. In front, from left to right, are queen candidates Kel-C Sefton, Breann Barnick, Marison Thomason and Emily Petersen. In back are king candidates are Zach Rigdon, Dylan Fulk and Lance Buchanan; Daniel Schwarm was not present for the photo.

    The Vandalia Community High School prom will be held this Saturday evening from 7-11 p.m. in the VCHS gym, with coronation set for 7:30 p.m.

  • VCHS Spring Band Concert

    The Vandalia Community High School band, under the direction of Tony Hicks, presented its spring concert on Sunday, April 17.     Weekend visitors of Dane and Belinda Harpster of St. Peter were Mahala Harpster of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Nathan Jacquin of Washington, Mo., Ben, Amanda, Madison and Dru Eller of Jackson, Mo., and Rollie and Trieva Henson of St. Peter.
    Easter Dinner
    Dane and Belinda Harpster of St. Peter took their mothers, Mary Harpster and Helen Limes, to the Leaky Bucket on Sunday for Easter dinner.
    They drove around the state park and enjoyed seeing deer, wild turkeys and squirrels.

  • Prehistoric performance

    A recent musical performance by first graders at Jefferson Primary School featured a dinosaur theme.

    In the first photo, Leo Krueger, Molly Malloy and Dawsyn Evans sing a song. In the second photo, Heidi Toler (front) and Caleb Caswell (rear) perform the actions to another song. In the third photo, Principal Donna Cripe walks through the halls of the school, which were decorated to look like a jungle.

  • Shreve awarded scholarship

    Megan Shreve of Vandalia was awarded an $8,500 merit-based Presidential Scholarship from MacMurray College.
