  • Ramsey has 3 new administrators

    When school starts this Friday, new people will occupy the top three administrative positions in the Ramsey Community School District.

    At the helm of the district will be Superintendent Melissa Ritter. She’ll be joined by High School Principal Ginger Edwards and Grade School Principal Sterling Montgomery.
    All three have considerable teaching and administrative experience, but will be taking a step up in their new positions.

    Kleinik
    The annual Kleinik family reunion will be held Sunday, Aug. 28, at Greenville Patriot’s Park with a potluck dinner at noon.
    Take a covered dish and a lawn chair.

    Cole-Neucome

    The annual Cole-Neucome reunion will be held at noon on Sunday, Sept. 4, with a basket lunch at Bingham townhouse.
    All friends and family are invited to attend.

    Grace Elaine Boatman
    Frank and Sarah Boatman of St. Charles, Mo., are the parents of a girl born at 3:37 p.m. on Friday, July 29, 2011, at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital.


    She weighed 8 pounds and 5 ounces. She was named Grace Elaine.
    She has three brothers, 18-year-old Dylan, 13-year-old Jakob and 2-year-old Jack.
    Grandparents are Joyce Carman of Vandalia, and Van and Sharon Boatman of Mulberry Grove.

    Irene Webber was recently chosen as the Woman of the Year at the Illinois State Convention of the Fraternal Order of Eagles held in Decatur.

  • Ireland – Whitehead

    Jessica Ireland and Christopher Whitehead, both of Brownstown, were united in marriage in a 5 p.m. ceremony on June 25, 2011, at Four Mile Christian Church, with H'aron Denton officiating.

  • Elam – 25 years

    Kevin and Liz Elam of Vandalia celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on Monday, Aug. 15.

  • Murfin – 50 years

    Tom and Myrna Murfin of Vernon will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday.

  • Church Briefs

    Gospel concert is Sunday at New Bethel

    A gospel concert will be held this Sunday at New Bethel Baptist Church on County Line Road.
    The 7 p.m. concert will feature Jack and Chris Arndt from Walls, Miss. An offering will be taken.
     
    Catholic women to hold deanery meeting

    The Diocesan Council of Catholic Women of the Litchfield Deanery will meet on Thursday, Aug. 25, at Saints Simon and Jude Catholic Church in Gillespie.

    Phyllis Thoman was the pianist on Monday. She played as the guests entered,  and later as the guests were leaving. She took the place of Sandy Dothager, who is moving.
    She played, “In the Good Old Summer Time,” “Has Anyone Seen My Gal,” “Won’t You Come Home Bill Bailey” and other old-time favorites.
    While Phyllis was playing, the cookies, made by Dorothy Schultz, and the drinks were given to the guests. Thank you, Dorothy – we always enjoy the cookies.
