  • Meyer competing for Millikin

    A Vandalia Community High School graduate was among the squad members as the Millikin track teams open their indoor season on Saturday, competing in the Towson Tiger Invite at Armory Track in New York, N.Y.
    Ethan Meyer, a sophomore at Millikin, finished fifth in the men’s 500-meter run with a time of 1:06.73.

    The Vandalia Junior High School seventh-grade volleyball team placed fourth in the eight-team Edwardsville Tournament on Saturday.
    The scores were:
    • VJHS defeated Quincy, 25-20, 25-20.
    • VJHS lost to Edwardsville Liberty, 1-25, 21-25.
    • VJHS defeated Gillespie, 25-17, 25-16.
    • VJHS lost to Roxana, 25-21, 25-27, 3-15.

  • Vandals take second place at Morrisonville Tourney

    One night after a bucket by Nathan Casey with 1.5 seconds on the clock gave them a win over Raymond-Lincolnwood, Vandalia breezed past Edinburg on Saturday to take second place in the Morrisonville Mohawk Tournament.

    Organic farming and gardening class
    The Kaskaskia College Department of Industrial and Continuing Education will offer an organic farming and gardening class at the Vandalia Campus from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 6.
    The registration number for the class is COED-5101-VA01E.
    In this class, students will learn what it takes to grow crops, vegetables and flowers without chemicals today, as well as gain a better understanding of the processes it takes to grow nutritious foods the new “old-fashioned way.”
