  • VCA music students perform at Brookstone

    Several music students from Vandalia Christian Academy presented a music program at Brookstone Estates in Vandalia on the afternoon of May 21.
    The program began with the reading of Psalm 150 and each student introducing himself or herself.
    The first group sang “Let’s Go Fly a Kite,” with CD accompaniment; a Jewish song, “How Good and Joyous,” with autoharp and tambourine accompaniment; and “Be Well and Happy,” sung a capella.
    The students in that group are Kali Portz, Alton Emerick, Keagan Timmons and J.J. Johnson.

  • St. Elmo First Baptist closes its doors

    After nearly a century of ministry the doors of the First Baptist Church of St. Elmo have closed, according to the Rev. Mike Hall, former pastor of St. Elmo First Baptist (1998-2002) and current director of missions for the Kaskaskia Baptist Association.  
    "During the life of St. Elmo First Baptist, literally thousands of people’s lives were touched and challenged with the gospel of Jesus Christ," Hall said.

  • Head Start taking applications

    The CEFS Head Start 0-5 Program is now taking enrollment applications for the fall.
    Head Start is a federally funded educational program available to pregnant women and children up to 5 years of age, including children with significant for multiple special needs.
    There are no entry fees for enrollment and no fees for services.
