    Believe It or Not
    We can hardly believe it, but it sounds like Tarzan, the little tree frog, and it looks like Tarzan, and we don’t really think it is him. But the past few days, a little green tree frog has taken up residence on our back porch. He hides in the daytime behind my lawn chair, but sometimes we catch a glimpse of him.     Birth
    Tony and Julie (Roberts) Farthing of Farina were blessed with a son on Thursday, June 9. He weighed 8 pounds, 9 ounces, and was 21 inches long. Bryant John was welcomed by his brother, Evan. Grandparents are John and Sue Roberts.  
    Death
    Lifelong St. Peter resident Melvin Graumenz died on June 14. The funeral was held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church on Saturday.

  • Laack again advances to PGA competition sectional

    For the second staight year, Chase Laack of Vandalia has advanced to the sectional round of the Professional Golfers Association of America’s Drive, Chip and Putt Championship.
    Laack advanced to the sectional competition at Bolingbrook Golf Club near Joliet on Aug. 14 by finishing second in the regional competition last week at Effingham Country Club.
    The top two in the sectional competition advance to state at Medinah Country Club in the Chicago suburb of Medinah, and the winner there advances to the national competition in Augusta, Ga.
