Golden Circle Nutrition Program, located at 616 W. Jackson St., Vandalia provides meals in a comfortable setting to people 60 years and older and their spouses. There are no income guidelines or any type of restrictions besides the age limit. Meals are prepared by Deb's Catering of Altamont and delivered fresh daily. The suggested donation is $2.60 for meals.
1995 – The cost of extending sewer lines to Vandalia’s western Interstate 70 interchange was less than expected. Thus, Mayor Rich Walker was proposing additional infrastructure improvements, including new sewer lines and manholes along the river bottoms in the city.
Judge Dennis Middendorff ruled that Stuart Heaton, a Bluff City man convicted of murder in 1992, could continue to use a Chicago law firm. Jenner & Block took on Heaton’s case on a pro bono (free) basis.
If they take advantage of it, the education that students can acquire in Vandalia's schools can take them far – the recipients of the Vandalia Alumni and Friends Foundation are proof of that.
This Saturday, the foundation will honor Robert E. Chandler, Tim Merriman and Jim Staff.
Chandler has completed a successful career in the auto industry, Merriman is well-known for his work and Staff has served his hometown as a leader in both the field of education and in community service.
