  • Vandalia falls to Carlinville 41-7

    The Vandalia High School football team fell to Carlinville High School 41-7 Friday night. The Vandals' lone score came on a a 13-yard sweep play by Nate Henna with 11:52 left in the game.

  • All Christians have reasons to be 'fishers of men'

    The Gospel of Luke 5: 4–11 tells about Jesus’ first encounter with a commercial fisherman by the name of Peter.  In this story Jesus tells Peter to take his boat out into the water.  When Peter does this there are so many fish that He has to call for his friends to help him get them back to shore. Then Jesus tells Peter, his brother Andrew, and his friends James and John, to come follow him and become fishers of men.

  • South Central/Webber Township baseball to play single game

    Yesterday, South Central High School and Webber Township High School scheduled a doubleheader for this evening, but due to some transportation difficulties, the teams will now play a single game at 7 p.m. as originally scheduled.

  • Contemporary service to start on Sept. 16 at FUMC

    The First United Methodist Church of Vandalia will be launching a contemporary service on Thursdays, beginning on Sept. 16.

     Targeted for young adults from 18-35 (though certainly not limited to that age group), the 6:30 p.m. service will offer contemporary music, worship and a message. It will go by the name of Crossfire.

  • Vandalia/Effingham soccer match cancelled

    The Vandalia High School soccer match scheduled against Effingham this afternoon has been cancelled due to inclement field conditions. This match will not be rescheduled.

  • Brownstown/South Central baseball cancelled

    Tonight's high school baseball game between Brownstown and South Central has been cancelled due to poor field conditions at Kinmundy Lions Field.

    South Central will host a doubleheader with Webber Township High School on Friday, starting at 5 p.m. Originally, the two teams were set for a single game at 7 p.m.

  • Kaskaskia College Vandalia Campus

    Intro to Internet & e-mail
    The Kaskaskia College Office of Community Education will offer an introduction to the Internet and e-mail class at the Vandalia Campus.
    This class will be held Saturdays, September 18 and 25, and Oct. 2, from 9-11:30 a.m.
    The registration number is LLI 7025 VA01D. 
     This basic class is designed to familiarize students with how to use e-mail, learn about establishing free e-mail accounts and how to use the Internet for learning, shopping, and business.
