  • Law Group adds two shareholder attorneys

    Oldfield Myers Apke & Payne Law Group, Ltd. has announced that Ariana E. Calderaro and Joel A. Slater are joining the firm as shareholders.
    Calderaro attended Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Mo., where she graduated summa cum laude in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.
    She continued her education at Webster University and graduated with a master’s in legal studies in 2011, then attended the Southern Illinois University School of Law, graduating in 2014 with her juris doctorate degree.

  • New memory care facility opening soon

    Completion is drawing near for a new memory care facility located at 1124 Sunset Drive in Vandalia.
    Willowbrook Development of Teutopolis began construction in July on this 12-unit memory care house.

  • VCHS band alumni sought for performance on Feb. 3

    Vandalia Community High School graduates are being invited to join the VCHS Pep Band for a performance at the high school boys basketball game on Alumni & Friends Night, which is Saturday, Feb. 3.
    VCHS band director Amanda Moloney is extending the invitation, which is open to all current band members and students at the junior high and high school, as well as VCHS graduates.

  • Sheriff's Arrest Log

    • Clifton L. Smith IV, 40, homeless, was arrested on Jan. 1 on charges of possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, armed violence, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a hypodermic needle. No bond information was listed.
    • Scott L. Buckley, 28, Dieterich, was arrested on Jan. 1 on a charge of battery. Bond was $1,500.
