  • Farina Fourth of July Celebration is Saturday

    The village of Farina will celebrate the Fourth of July on Saturday with a celebration at the village park that will feature a variety of activities.
    The celebration gets under way at 9 a.m. with a wooden bat tournament featuring children's and adults' brackets. A food stand opens at 11 a.m., and registration for the 2 p.m. parade begins at 1 p.m.

  • Dothager reunion is Monday

    The Herman Dothager family reunion will be held Monday in the pavilion at Rogier Park on West Fillmore Street in Vandalia.
    Lunch with the traditional homemade ice cream is at noon.

  • Gottman will address chamber

    The Vandalia Chamber of Commerce will meet at noon on Wednesday in the Lincoln Room at Ponderosa Steakhouse.

    A noon luncheon will be followed by a business meeting and the program. This month, Vandalia Mayor Rick Gottman will give his "State of the City" address.

    Metro Church plans Kids Bible Kamp
    Metro Community Church will host a Kids Bible Kamp on July 11-14 at Rogier Park in Vandalia. The daily camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon for children from age 4 years through sixth grade.
    Under the theme of a "safari adventure," the event will include Bible stories, an obstacle course, sno cones, music and games.

    Evergreen Outreach should be regarded as a warm and welcoming place to congregate each Monday.
    Many of those attending get to come through the availability of the Operation OUTING bus, as well as other outings provided throughout the year.
    All of the EO programs receive thanks and appreciation from everyone who attends.
    On stage this week were David and Patricia Pence, the SoftFire duo from Hillsboro. They always present outstanding music and songs, using a variety of musical instruments.
