    • Jessie M. Knight, 32, 927 W. Edwards St., Vandalia, was arrested on July 25 on a charge of driving while her license is suspended. Bond was $1,500.

    Celebrates Birthday
    Dane and Belinda Harpster of St. Peter celebrated Belinda’s birthday on Friday by going to the River-to-River Yard Sale from Cave-In Rock to Cape Girardeau.
    They spent Friday and Saturday nights with their daughter, Amanda Eller and family in Jackson, Mo.

    Pastor Bill Emrick of Indianapolis, Ind., spent Sunday night at the home of Dane and Belinda Harpster.

    It’s Not Too Late …
    … to visit our Fayette County Fair, quick, while the sun is shining. We, the human inhabitants of the Homestead, enjoyed going over to the fairground Sunday evening and following our tradition of eating a Knights of Columbus fish sandwich.
    Steve Barker was at the window to take our order, while cooks were filling the orders and frying up the fish with crispy coating on the outside and tender well-cooked fish on the inside.

    • Staci M. Litaker, 43, 1528 W. Randolph St., Vandalia, was arrested on July 8 on charges of criminal trespass to real property, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. Bond was $10,000.
    • William A. Sides, 37, 1229 N. Sixth St., Vandalia, was arrested on July 7 for failure to appear in court. Bond was $2,500.

  • Route 51 wreck results in fatality

    A Dixon man sustained fatal injuries in a two-vehicle accident on U.S. Route 51 south of Vandalia last Friday afternoon.
