  • Cougars come up short on Tuesday

    After North Clay scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning to break a 1-1 tie, South Central’s effort to keep the game going fell one run short.
    North Clay scored in the top of the third inning, then the Cougars knotted the score in the next inning. Both teams were scoreless until the eighth, when North Clay scored three times and South Central twice.
    Logan Lotz took the loss in relief, giving up three runs and three hits, striking out three and walking two.

  • Bombers top Ramsey, fall to Dieterich

    Brownstown/St. Elmo scored six times in the second inning on their way to a 15-2 win against Ramsey last Thursday at Ramsey.
    The Bombers led 7-0 after two innings and 10-0 after three, closing out the win with a run in the fourth inning and four more in the fifth.
    Nate Philpot gave up just two hits in four innings of work, striking out 10, walking one and allowing just one earned run.
    Bryton Pruett led the Bombers’ offensive attack, going 4-for-5 with four RBI’s.

  • VCHS thinclads place first, second in home meet

    Vandalia’s boys placed first and the girls team second in a home quadrangular meet with Christ Our Rock Lutheran, Patoka and Brownstown/St. Elmo last Thursday.

  • Cougars score nine late to top Vandals

    South Central scored nine times in the final three innings to defeat Vandalia, 9-5, last Wednesday at Vandalia Mutual Field.

  • Lady Vandals top Greenville for second time this season

    The Lady Vandals scored three runs in the first inning, six in the fifth and four more in the sixth to blast Greenville for the second time this season.

    • Michelle J. Mathis, 47, 640 S. Fifth St., Vandalia, was arrested on April 9 for failure to appear in court. Bond was $13,000.
    • Jennifer A. Manley, 40, 829 S. Poplar St., Vandalia, was arrested on April 9 on a charge of criminal trespass to a residence. Bond was $10,000.
    • Robert K. Buckner, 41, Florissant, Mo., was arrested on April 9 for failure to appear in court. Bond was $2,000.
