  • Lady Bombers fall to Altamont at home

    Altamont held a 17-8 lead after the first quarter and were never headed in a 55-44 win over Brownstown-St. Elmo last Thursday.

  • Cougars fall to Dieterich

    Four South Central players scored in double figures on Saturday, but the Cougars were handed a 75-68 loss by Dieterich.
    Ryan McCown scored 15 points to lead the Cougars, and Logan Lotz, Trent Geiler and Hunter Brandt each tallied 14.
    Campton Callaway scored 32 points to lead Dieterich.

  • Wrestlers pick up four more victories; now at 24-3

    Vandalia’s wrestlers picked up easy wins over Robinson and Murphysboro, then came from behind to defeat Monticello in a home quadrangular on Saturday.

  • Sheriff's Arrest Log

    • Derek Hrabusicky, 32, 1501 N. Seventh St., Apt. 28, Vandalia, was arrested on Jan. 16 for failure to appear in court. Bond was $1,500.
    • Hunter J. Runyon, 21, Robinson, was arrested on Jan. 16 on a charge of obstructing identification. Bond was $1,500.
    • Robert J.E. Brown, 28, Mt. Vernon, was arrested on Jan. 15 on a charge of driving while his license is suspended or revoked. Bond was $1,500.

    Jan. 15
    • 5:03 a.m. – Officers responded to the 400 block of West Randolph Street for a report of a domestic dispute. One individual involved left the residence.
    • 10:02 a.m. – Officers responded to a two-vehicle accident at Veterans Avenue and Sunset Drive. No injuries were reported.

  • Logo contest held for city's 200th birthday

    The Vandalia Bicentennial Board of Directors is holding contests for two logos that will be used during the city’s 200th birthday party next year.
