    Death
    Raymond Reed, 87, of Farina, died on Friday. The funeral was held on Monday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
    Raymond was a lifelong resident of the St. Peter area.
    St. Peter’s Lutheran Church
    Sunday morning worship attendance was 167. The organist was the Rev. Alan Holtz.
    Collin Miller served as the acolyte. Attending Elders were Darrell Wollin and Kevin Wodtka.

    S.O.S. – Baby Bucky Burro Kicking Up His Heels
    Buckwheat the little burro has enjoyed taking his naps in the sunshine, but he really demonstrated Sunday how much he enjoyed the sunshine and spring weather by putting on a show for us. It was really cute how he showed off.
    He can see our back door from his barn door, and he often sticks his head out in the early mornings to watch for us to emerge.
    He also listens for the door to open and when he hears the latch, looks out and is out of his barn by the time we are out of the door.

  • Missouri man arrested for soliciting child

    Bond has been set at $250,000 for a Missouri man who has been charged with felony offenses alleging attempted criminal sexual abuse of a child.

  • Nokomis man guilty on two felony charges

    A Nokomis man was convicted on two of three felony charges at the completion of a two-day jury trial in Fayette County Circuit Court.

  • Few contests in next Tuesday's election

    Many Fayette County voters will not have many decisions to make when they go to the polls next Tuesday. One exception is in Vandalia Township.
    In that township, there are 12 candidates running for six township positions.
    The Republican incumbent supervisor, Bev Daniels, is being challenged by Democrat Jackie (Cearlock) Willis, and the Republican incumbent clerk, Boyd Ledbetter, is being challenged by Democrat Barb Mitchell.

    • Taketha M. Johnson, 45, Memphis, Tenn., was arrested on March 28 for failure to appear in court. Bond was $4,000.
    • Arik E. Warner, 32, 1502 N. Eighth St., Apt. 4B, Vandalia, was arrested on March 27 for failure to appear in court. Bond was $250 cash.
    • Aram Armani, 58, Las Vegas, Nev., was arrested on March 27 on charges of driving while his license is suspended or revoked and no taillights. Bond was $1,500.
