  • Sheriff's Arrest Log

    • Susan M. Lesaulnier, 35, 403 W. Wall St., Mulberry Grove, was arrested on Oct. 19 on a Bond County warrant for a charge of driving while her license is suspended or revoked. Bond was $1,500.
    • Rito M. Robles, 69, Los Angeles, Calif., was arrested on Oct. 19 on a charge of driving while his license is suspended or revoked. Bond was $1,500.
    • William A. Sides, 31, 1229 N. Sixth St., Vandalia, was arrested on Oct. 19 on a charge of driving while his license is suspended. Bond was $1,500.

    • Melissa C. Stevens, 33, RR 1, Shobonier, was arrested on Oct. 10 on a charge of aggravated battery. She was turned over to the Illinois Department of Corrections.

    • Chuck A. Vinson, 23, 210 N. Locust St., Farina, was arrested on Oct. 10 on a charge of aggravated cruelty to animals. Bond was $20,000.

    • Danielle N. Harlan, 22, 1819 Spring St., Vandalia, was arrested on Oct. 10 on a charge of theft more than $500. No bond information was given.

  • Man acquitted at jury trial

    A Vandalia man charged with taking an exhaust fan from outside a downtown business was acquitted by a Fayette County jury earlier this week.
    After deliberating only a short time on Tuesday morning, the jury returned a not guilty verdict in the trial for Jeremiah R.L. Kenner.
    Kenner, 33, 318 N. Fifth St., was charged in March with theft more than $500. The charge alleged that Kenner stole an exhaust fan from outside Old Capitol View Restaurant and Lounge at 401 W. Gallatin St.

    • Scott P. White, 39, 106 S. Maple St., Mulberry Grove, was arrested on Oct. 4 for failure to appear in court on a misdemeanor charge and a small claims matter. Bond was $5,300.
    • Isa A. Abdur-Rahman, 37, Jamaica, N.Y., was arrested on Oct. 3 on charges of driving while his license is suspended and speeding. Bond was $1,500.
    • Marvin A. Rodriguez, 41, Castlerock, Colo., was arrested on Oct. 3 on a charge of driving while his license is suspended or revoked. Bond was $1,500.

  • Two charged with break-in

    Two individuals have been charged in connection with a break-in at Brownstown Elementary School on Sept. 18.
    Michael A. White, 23, of Vandalia, has been charged with theft of more than $500.
    The charge, a Class 2 felony punishable by up to seven years in prison and/or a fine of up to $25,000, alleges that White stole electronics valued at between $500 and $10,000.
    Tiffany A. Hans, 20, of Vandalia, is charged with burglary for allegedly entering the school without authority.

  • Sheriff's Arrest Log-Sept. 25, 2011

    • Meghan R. Kessinger, 18, 204½ S. Broadway St., Herrick, was arrested on Sept. 27 on a charge of retail theft. Bond was $1,000.
    • Lisa B. Simmons, 45, 1210 W. Tower St., Vandalia, was arrested on Sept. 26 on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane usage. Bond was $3,000, and she was released at the order of the state’s attorney’s office.

  • Local man acquitted of felonies

    A Vandalia man was acquitted of two felony charges and convicted of a misdemeanor offense in a jury trial recently in Fayette County.
    Christopher Glass, 28, 1304 W. Randolph St., was found not guilty of aggravated battery, a Class 2 felony, and domestic battery, a Class 3 felony, in a jury trial at the end of August.
    Glass was found guilty of battery, a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to 364 days in jail.
    Glass was represented at trial by Troy G. Payne and Debora Niebrugge Reimers.
