  • Five-class VHS reunion held in September

Five Vandalia High School classes met at Days Inn in Vandalia on Sept. 11 for a reunion.
In 1988, the VHS class of 1948 celebrated its 40th reunion, and invited classes from 1946, 1947, 1948 and 1950 to share in the planning of the reunion.
These five classes have continued to meet jointly over the years, with the individual class chairmen remaining the same: 1946-Iris Brooks Rademacher; 1947-Jeanne Lawler Hohlt; 1948-Annie Spinner Eller; 1949-Gary Bone; and 1950-Jean Meredith Stombaugh.

  • Cultivating Young Minds & Bodies

Greta (Cocagne) Krueger had long wanted to return to her hometown and teach at her alma mater. That dream was fulfilled this fall, when Krueger joined the English department at Vandalia Community High School.
In her Communication for Success class, the 1985 VCHS graduate is passing on something that her students in Homer Glen, a Chicago suburb, learned – the value and enjoyment of community service.
