  • KC holds open community forum at Vandalia Campus

    The Kaskaskia College Vandalia Education Center hosted a 2011 Community Engagement Open Community Forum with the board chairman and college president on Monday, June 27.
    Kaskaskia College staff and community members together discussed the operations of the college. A brief overview of the Illinois Community College System was provided, as well as a description of the Kaskaskia College District 501 and the various Kaskaskia College Education Centers and services centers.

  • KC offers eBay class

    Kaskaskia College will offer a "How to Buy and Sell on ebay" class at the KC Vandalia Campus on Saturdays, July 9, 16 and 23,  from 8:30 to 11 a.m.  
     Students will learn to turn items from their attics and basements into cash by using online auction sites.
    This hands-on computer class teaches the students how to put unwanted items up for sale on eBay.
    This course is designed for the beginner online auctioneer.  It will include demonstrations on  how to post items on eBay.

  • College Graduates

    SIUE
    R. Mackenzie Holaday of Vandalia graduated from Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville on May 6. Holaday graduated with a bachelor's degree in nursing.

  • VCSF Scholarships

    The Vandalia Community Schools Foundation awarded two $1,000 scholarships to the top two of 19 scholarship applicants: Morgan Hll (second from left), daughter of Dave and Tammy Hall. and Nicole Wells (second from right), daughter of  Darin and Melissa Wells. Presenting the scholarships were Sandy Peyton (left) and Sharon LaDage (right).

    The scholarship money will be held for them until graduation, and will be awarded to the school of their choice at that time.

  • VCHS Class of 1945 planning reunion

    The 1966 Vandalia Community High School class is busy preparing for its 45th reunion, which will be held Sept. 30, Oct. 1 and Oct. 2.
    One of the activities for the weekend is a tour of the high school, where classmates can catch a glimpse of the new library, refurbished gym and new administrative addition.
    After the tour, lunch will be eaten in the high school cafeteria, and there will be a chance to tell stories, look at old pictures and just catch up on the past 45 years.

  • KICK classes in June at Vandalia KC Campus

    June classes for the Kids in College at KC (KICK) program include:

    Starting Monday, June 27:

    -Tie-dye T-Shirt making for students in grades K-8, Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m.-noon.

    -Get up, Get Out and Go Play for students in grades 1-5 is from 1-4 p.m. and for students in grades 6-8, Monday and Tuesday, 8-10 a.m.

    -DNA Detective for students in sixth grade and above, Monday and Wednesday, 1-4 p.m.

  • KICK classes at KC Vandalia Campus

    The Office of Continuing/Community Education at Kaskaskia College has announced the schedule for KICK classes to be held in July at the Vandalia Campus, located at 2310 W. Fillmore St. in Vandalia.

    • Storytellin' – Each day students will explore great children's books with fun and exciting activities, including puppetry, creative dramatics, movement, music and crafts.

    Brooke Knebel-Renfro graduated from Lincoln Land Community College on May 13 with an associate’s degree in arts and graphic design.

  • Area students honored at Illinois College

    Illinois College
    Three area residents were among the students Illinois College recognized for academic excellence on April 29 when the liberal arts college held its annual Celebration of Excellence.
    • Whitney Hagy, a senior, was awarded membership into Kappa Delta Pi, the education national honors society.
    Hagy is a graduate of Vandalia Community High School, and is the daughter of Elizabeth Deutsch and Mark Hagy, both of Vandalia.
