    Starting a Business
    The Illinois Small Business Development Center at Kaskaskia College will host a workshop, “Starting a Business in Illinois,” on Friday, from 2-4 p.m.  at the KC Vandalia Campus, 2310 W. Fillmore St.  
    Topics to be covered include: how to develop a business plan as well as a marketing plan; how to get organized and maintain records; determining the form of your business organization; registering your business; and legal and financial basics.

    St. Louis University
    Christopher Britt, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Britt of Vandalia, graduated magna cum laude with a doctorate in medicine from St. Louis University this spring.

  • VHS class of 1961 holds 50-year reunion

    Seventy-nine people – including 52 classmates – gathered in Vandalia the weekend of Sept. 30-Oct. 2 to attend the 50th reunion of the Vandalia High School class of 1961.

  • Brownstown See You at the Pole

    About 45 students gathered around the flag pole at Brownstown Junior-Senior High last Wednesday morning for "See You at the Pole," a time of prayer.

    After the service, several area churches provided breakfast for those students who participated. In the second photo, from left to right, are Eddie Carson, Kaylee Sefton and Jordan Evans.

  • BES Tennis Class

    Working with Vandalia PE teacher, Brian Buscher,  Brownstown Elementary School coordinated an available time on the tennis courts as a follow up to the sixth-grade tennis unit.

  • MG Trap Team finishes season

    The Mulberry Grove Trap Team competed at the Sam Jenny Memorial Shoot on July 10 in Highland.

  • October Classes at Vandalia KC Campus

    October classes
    There is no excuse for not having something to do in October. Kaskaskia College Vandalia Campus has a wide assortment of classes for all interests.
    On Thursdays, Oct. 6, 13 and 20, a pencil drawing (COED 7003VA01E) class will be held with KC art instructor Tim Wight. The class will meet from 6-8 p.m. in the student commons area.

  • Eating with the Stars

    The latest award in the Jefferson Primary School's rewards program was a field trip to Vandalia Community High School, where JPS kindergarten and first-grade students enjoyed a picnic with VCHS athletes.
