  • Vandalia Elementary School moving closer to its SMART Boards goal

    Vandalia Elementary School is creeping closer to its goal of obtaining modern technology that is in many ways replacing chalkboards in the classroom.

  • KC adding music degree

    At its Dec. 15 meeting, the Kaskaskia College Board of Trustees approved an associate in fine arts in music degree that will allow KC students the opportunity to complete an associate’s degree that prepares them to enter into a baccalaureate program in music with junior status.
    Students who enroll in the program will receive a solid foundation in music theory, music history and applied music performance skills.
    The degree will prepare students for transfer to a bachelor of fine arts degree program at a senior college or university.  

  • KC Aids Caring & Sharing

    Students and faculty at the Kaskaskia College Vandalia Campus recently put their efforts together to collect donations for the Caring and Sharing Program.

  • South Central Students Donate

    The South Central Middle and Elementary schools held a “fill-the-bus” food drive this month for the Kinmundy Neighborhood pantry.

    Students and staff members from both schools brought in canned and boxed food, with a final count of 3,938 pounds of food. Students and staff from the middle school also participated in a fundraiser for “adopt-a-family” sponsored by student council. The students raised $1,868.50 and were able to help several families in the community.

  • VCHS Chorus Members Honored

    Six members of the Vandalia Community High School chorus have been honored for their performances in recent competitions.

  • Chosen for IMEA Festival

    Eleven members of the Vandalia Junior High School band were selected to participate in the recent  Illinois Music Educators Association's fall festival in Charleston.

    They are (front row, from left): Ashley Bauer, Hanna Blythe, Olivia Marquardt, Mikayla Ruot, Bailey Arndt and Jalea Paslay. In the back row, from left, are: Joe Meyer, Bryce Dickenson, Nick Donaldson, Eli Bowen and Jon Torbeck. Director of the band is Sara Berg.

    The Alternative Education Programs have announced how students and families can learn of school closings or early dismissals due to bad weather.

    Kaskaskia College held its associate degree nursing pinning ceremony recently in the KC Auditorium.

  • KC Vandalia holds LPN Graduation

    Family, friends, instructors and college officials joined together on Tuesday, Nov. 22, at Kaskaskia College Vandalia’s Campus to congratulate the 2011 graduating class of licensed practical nurses.
