    Intro to the Internet class
    The Kaskaskia College Office of Continuing/Community Education an introduction to the Internet class at the Vandalia Center on Saturdays, April 14 and 21, from 8:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
    The registration number is LLI 7025 VA01W.
    This basic class is designed to familiarize one with how to use e-mail, establishing free e-mail accounts and how to use the Internet for learning, shopping and business.
    The cost for this course is $48; students over 60 may register at no cost.

  • BHS Drama Club Performs

    The Brownstown High School Drama Club performed "Check, Please" and "Drugs are Bad" in the BHS gym on Saturday afternoon.

    In the first photo, Tyler Feezel and Kayla Black perform one of the scenes about bad first dates. In the second photo, Jordan Evans and Sarah Swain perform another scene from that part of the program.

    Beekeeping course
    The Kaskaskia College Office of Continuing/Community Education will offer a beginning beekeeping course at the Vandalia Center on Saturday, March 24, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
    The registration number is COED 8033 VA04W.
    The beekeeping series continues with “Keeping Healthy Bees.” This course will explore the impact of illness to the colony and how to keep your bees healthy and on their own six feet.
    The cost for this course is $15; students over 60 may register at no cost.

  • Social Network Safety Seminar at VCHS

    Brent Maquire, a former police officer in Fairfield, spoke to students at Vandalia Community High School on Monday about the dangers of putting inappropriate material on Internet social networks.

    "What you do today could affect the rest of your life," he said. "Once you hit the 'send' button, you've lost control of it." He also talked to the students about cyber bullying, online predators and being aware of your online reputation. In addition to speaking to students during the day, he hosted a parents meeting that night.
