  • BHS Prom Candidates

    The Browntown High School prom will be held this Saturday from 8-11 p.m. in the BHS gym, with coronation set for 8 p.m.

  • VCHS Spring Band Concert

    The Vandalia Community High School band, under the direction of Tony Hicks, presented its spring concert on Sunday, April 17.   • Prehistoric performance

    A recent musical performance by first graders at Jefferson Primary School featured a dinosaur theme.

    In the first photo, Leo Krueger, Molly Malloy and Dawsyn Evans sing a song. In the second photo, Heidi Toler (front) and Caleb Caswell (rear) perform the actions to another song. In the third photo, Principal Donna Cripe walks through the halls of the school, which were decorated to look like a jungle.

  • Deadline for McKee loan is May 1

    May 1 is the deadline for the interest-free loan funded by the Ella McKee Foundation through First National Bank.
    Ella McKee was a Fayette Countian who chose to bequeath a large sum of money to establish an ongoing program whereby qualified young people could obtain a post-high-school education.
    The First National Bank of Vandalia was named trustee to create the Ella G. McKee Foundation to invest and reinvest the assets, and disburse the income “solely for educational purposes and no other.”
