  • KC financial aid workshop is Friday

    The Kaskaskia College Financial Aid Office will host a FAFSA workshop from 1-3 p.m. this Friday in room L-102 on the KC main campus.
    The purpose of this event is to help college-bound students who need to complete and submit the 2012-13 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
    Completing the FAFSA accurately and on time is the first and most-important step to obtaining state and federal financial aid.
    By completing the FAFSA, students will be able to meet deadlines at the colleges they are considering.

  • Applications now being accepted for Bohner Scholarship

    The Kaskaskia College Foundation has announced that applications are now available for the Steve and Patti Bohner Scholarship, in memory of Robert Burnside.
    Burnside was a lawyer in Vandalia for 67 years and a leader in the Vandalia community. This scholarship has been established in his memory to assist students in achieving their education goals.
    Applicants must be a graduate of Vandalia High School, exhibit financial need and maintain a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

  • Klekamp earns bronze medal at SkillsUSA

    Career and Technical Education students across the state came together on Thursday, April 26, for the opening ceremony of the eighth anniversary of Illinois SkillsUSA in Springfield.
    On Friday morning, April 27, competitions began and by the end of the day, students experienced a day they will never forget.  On Saturday, the ceremonies ended with closing ceremonies and awards.

    The Kaskaskia College physical therapy program recently held its annual pinning ceremony for its 2012 graduates.

    The two-day spring commencement at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville was held May 4-5.
    Local graduates included:
    • Brownstown – Wes Michael Kistler, bachelor’s degree.
    • Mulberry Grove – Nicholas Ryan Brown, bachelor’s degree.
    • Patoka – Christopher C. Felchlia, bachelor’s degree.
    • St. Elmo – Hannah Marie Imig, bachelor’s degree.
    • Shobonier – Quentin Nathaniel Schukar, bachelor’s degree.

  • Sheriff's Scholarship

    Nicholas Metzger (left), a 2012 graduate of Vandalia Community High School, is this year's Fayette County recipient of an Illinois Sheriff's Association Scholarship.

    Presenting him with the scholarship is Fayette County Sheriff Aaron Lay.

  • Allen picked for LLC Honors Band

    Kierstyn Allen, daughter of Jeff and Michele (Hovious) Allen of Paris and granddaughter of Earl and Deanna Hovious of Brownstown, was selected to be a performer at the Honors Band and Chorus Festival at Lake Land College in Mattoon.

  • Lucken picked for Boys State

    Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 of Vandalia has selected Jeff Lucken of Vandalia to attend Illinois’ 77th annual session of Boys State.

  • VCA holds graduation

    Vandalia Christian Academy held its eighth-grade graduation on Thursday, May 17.
