  • Head Start taking applications

    The CEFS Head Start 0-5 Program is now taking enrollment applications for the fall.
    Head Start is a federally funded educational program available to pregnant women and children up to 5 years of age, including children with significant for multiple special needs.
    There are no entry fees for enrollment and no fees for services.

  • KC Vandalia KICK programs

    The Office of Continuing/Community Education at Kaskaskia College has announced the schedule for KICK classes to be held in June at the Vandalia Campus located at 2310 W. Fillmore Street in Vandalia.
    Babysitting – Kids ages 13 and up will learn basic CPR and first aid, practical skills from changing diapers to small meal preparation and fun games to keep those little ones entertained.
    At the end of this course, you will leave with your own babysitting kit and everything you need to be a great sitter.

  • KC offering Jump Start Program

    Kaskaskia College is currently accepting applications for the Jump Start Program for high school students for the summer and fall 2017 semesters.
    The Jump Start Program allows high school students to receive a 50-percent reduction in tuition for up to three credit hours.
    This is an opportunity for high school students to get a “jump start” on their college education while still in high school and to benefit from cost savings.

    The Benjamin Mills Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution held its Youth and Good Citizens Award Program and reception on March 18 in the Family Life Center at First Christian Church in Greenville.

  • Buzzard given Farm Credit scholarship

    The recipients of nearly $50,000 of scholarships to high school seniors throughout Central and Southern Illinois pursuing agriculture-related majors and future careers were announced recently by Farm Credit Illinois.
    Among the scholarship recipients is Fayette County resident Bryce Buzzard of Beecher City Junior-Senior High School, the son of Brent and Allison Buzzard.
    Buzzard will attend Lake Land College to study agricultural business with hopes of working in management for a local agribusiness before returning to work full-time on his family’s farm.
