  • Durbin donates to Patoka FFA

    Durbin Vet Clinic recently donated $528 to the Patoka FFA chapter. The donation was made possible by a Pfizer Animal Health program.

  • KC bands will present first concert of season

    The Kaskaskia College Music Department will present its first concert of the 2012-13 season on Tuesday with the fall instrumental concert. The concert will feature the Kaskaskia College Concert and Jazz Bands under the direction of Professor Cliff Jourdan.
    Concert band highlights include "The Processional Wedding March” by John Philip Sousa, and “Symphony No. 9 ‘From the New World’ Finale Excerpts” by Antonin Dvorak.

  • Greenville College recognized as a 'Best College'

    Greenville College was recently ranked among the top Midwest regional colleges in the 2013 edition of the U.S. News and World Report Best Colleges.
    “We’re pleased yet again to be ranked so highly by U.S. News,” said Vice President for Enrollment Michael Ritter. “We believe that attending Greenville College is among the best investments that a student can make in their future.
    “We hope that this recognition allows more students to learn about the experience they can have here.”

  • Tri-county conference is on Oct. 5

    Regional Superintendent Julie Wollerman and the ROE 3 team will once again host the tri-county Professional Development Conference.
    The conference will be held on Friday, Oct. 5, at Vandalia Junior High and Elementary schools. Doors will open at 7:30 a.m., with the keynote address starting at 8:30 a.m. Sessions will continue throughout the day until 2:30 pm.

    ‘Writing Your Life Story’
    The Kaskaskia College Office of Continuing/Community Education will offer a “Writing Your Life Story” class at the Vandalia Campus on Mondays, Sept.10-Oct. 1, from 6-8 p.m.
    The registration number is LLI 7607 VA01E.
    Writing the story of your life can heal, inspire and entertain, and only you can do it. This course leads you quickly through the process from idea to manuscript, helping you write like a pro.
    The cost for students under 60 is $40; students over 60 may register at no cost.

    All-School Reunion banquet is Sept. 22

    Reservations are now being accepted for the banquet being held as part of the Vandalia Community High School All-School Reunion.
    The reunion is held during the VCHS homecoming weekend, with the banquet set for the evening of Saturday, Sept. 22, at the American Legion Home in Vandalia
    A social hour with a cash bar and hors d'oeuvres will be held from 5-6:30 p.m., and dinner is from 6:30-8 p.m.
