  • Patoka FFA Receives Donation

    The Patoka FFA Chapter receives a donation from Dr. Charlie Durbin, owner of Durbin Vet Clinic in St. Peter to help fund student projects.

    The donation was made possible through a promotion from Pfizer Animal Health, a program that allows veterinarians to contribute 1 percent of their Pfizer Animal Health product purchases to local FFA chapter of their choice. Above, Durbin, left, presents the donation to Patoka FFA President Shelby Cain and Vice President Emily Cain.

    Computer College I
    The Kaskaskia College Office of Continuing/Community Education will offer a computer college I class at the Vandalia Campus.
    This class will be held Thursdays from Sept. 15 though Oct. 13, from 1-4 p.m. The registration number is LLI 7020 VA01E.
     This hands-on computer course gives novice computer users the opportunity to become seasoned intermediate computer users.

  • KC still has art scholarships

    Kaskaskia College has announced that several fine and performing arts scholarships are still available for students for the fall semesters.
     The scholarships are for students in the field of arts and include tuition and mandatory fees. These scholarships are talent-based, but require the recipient to meet  scholarship program requirements.
    Scholarships consist of a waiver of tuition and mandatory fees assessed to students who enroll in classes, maintaining full-time status, at Kaskaskia College.

  • Reservations accepted for All-School Reunion on Oct. 1

    The Vandalia Community High School All-School Reunion will be held on Saturday, Oct. 1, at the American Legion Home in Vandalia.
    Students in classes 1936-2011 will be honored, but all VCHS graduates, along with the public, are invited to the reunion, which is sponsored by the Vandalia Community Schools Foundation.
    A dinner and social hour runs from 5-8:30 p.m., with the cost being $25 per person.
    Live music and dancing will be available from 8:30-10:30 p.m. There is no charge.

  • Upcoming classes at KC Vandalia

    Beginning quilting class

    The Kaskaskia College Office of Continuing/Community Education will offer a beginning quilting class at the Vandalia Campus.

    This class will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesdays, beginning Aug. 31 and ending Sept. 14. The registration number is COED 5440 VA01D.

    This class will examine all of the necessary tools for hand- and machine-piecing of quilt blocks. Each week, the tools and their use will be demonstrated, as well as students putting the cut fabric pieces into a block.
