Lincoln Land Community College student groups will sponsor “Chickfest,” a celebration of women’s music and art, on Saturday, Oct. 1, from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. on the Springfield campus.
Admission for musical performances is $3 for the day; all other events are free.

Reasons to consider a career in agriculture:  $37,111 average starting pay, with some starting salaries reaching more than $43,000.
There were 52,000 job openings last year in agriculture, with only 32,300 candidates to fill them, a rate of 1.6 jobs per graduate, with the gap widening every year and the projected growth higher than it has ever been.
This is the outlook for those graduating with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture-related programs.

There are two ongoing exhibitions now in the Dee and Sue Boswell Art Gallery in the Lifelong Learning Building on the campus of Kaskaskia College.  

The Kaskaskia College Office of Continuing/Community Education will offer a cake decorating class at the Vandalia Campus on Saturday, Oct. 1, from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
The registration number is COED 5439 VA01W.
Students will learn the basics of cake decorating.
They will not only learn how to make icing, but will learn the importance of icing consistency.
Students can expect to learn how to make decorative icing flowers, figure piping and lattice work.
The making of novelty and specialty cakes will also be addressed.
