    Murrell performs at UE concert
    The University of Evansville announced that Ian Murrell performed at the Department of Music’s 33rd annual Holiday Pops concert.
    Murrell, a resident of Vandalia, is majoring in music performance.
    Holiday Pops took place on the evening of Tuesday, Dec. 4, in Downtown Evansville’s Victory Theatre. The concert brings together ensembles and soloists, including the university’s choirs, orchestra, and wind and jazz ensembles to perform holiday favorites.

  • KC will offer weekend business courses at Vandalia Campus

    Kaskaskia College continues to offer classes at times and places that are convenient to the students of the district.
    The Education Centers at Greenville, Nashville, Salem, Trenton and Vandalia have collaborated to offer the Small Business Accounting Certificate and the Certificate of Accounting that will start in the spring 2013semester.
    A Small Business Accounting Certificate requires 22 credit hours and by continuing classes, students can obtain a Certificate of Accounting requiring 34 hours.

  • KC Vandalia Campus spring registration is under way

    Registration for classes at the KC Vandalia Campus for the 2013 spring semester is now in progress.
    Most spring classes will begin the week of Jan. 14, 2013.

    VJHS will hold Family Movie Night

    The Vandalia Junior High School student council will host Family Movie Night in the school's gym this Friday.
    "The Polar Express" will be shown at 6 p.m., with doors opening at 5:30 p.m.
    Admission is one non-perishable food item per person.
    All children must be supervised by an adult, and all present will have a chance to win a copy of "The Polar Express" book or movie.
    Concessions will be available, and Santa Claus will make an appearance.

    Austin Rhodes and Kristen Pontious, first photo, were crowned king and queen at the Brownstown High School homecoming dance on Saturday night.

  • Kaskaskia College sets Honors Program deadline for spring

    Kaskaskia College announces that Dec. 15 is the deadline for students to apply for the spring 2013 Honors Program.
    This program recognizes students who have demonstrated, or who evidence the potential for, consistent academic excellence.
    The mission of the program is to challenge students to think, to analyze, to investigate and to discover by stimulating them to achieve beyond the usual academic requirements. The program will develop exceptional talent and ability in highly motivated students.
