    Honoring 1963 graduates
    Kaskaskia College is looking for students in the graduating class of 1963.
    The college is planning a special recognition of those graduates at this year’s graduation ceremony, which is scheduled for Friday, May 17.
    Individuals who are 1963 graduates or who know of someone who graduated from that class are asked to contact Cheryl Boehne, director of admissions and registration, at 545-3184 or by e-mail, cboehne@kaskaskia.edu.
    The deadline to contact the school with the names of graduates is April 1.

  • Ramsey to host choral festival

    The Ramsey Junior High School choir will be hosting and participating in the 2013 Junior High School Area Choral Festival next Thursday in the Ramsey High School gym.

  • BES Reward for Good Behavior

    Brownstown Elementary School students were rewarded with an assembly for good behavior during February.

    In the first photo, students watch a presentation by Nitro Joe, a scientist who did various science experiments for the students to teach them about chemical reactions. In the second photo, sixth-grader Bob Goldman assists Nitro Joe with one of his experiments.

    SIU-Edwardsville
    Calvin Vaughn Wagoner of Palastine was among the fall graduates at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville on Dec. 15.
    Wagoner, who earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, has accepted an engineering position in Highland.
    He is the son of Don and Michelle Wagoner of Palastine, and the grandson of Wayne and Sandra Lovett of St. Elmo, and the late Don and Marjorie Wagoner, formerly of Palastine.

    The Kaskaskia College Financial Aid Office will host a FAFSA Friday Workshop from 1-3 p.m. this Friday in room L-102 on the KC main campus.
    The purpose of this event is to help college-bound students who need to complete and submit the 2013-14 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
    Completing the FAFSA accurately and on time is the first and most-important step to obtaining state and federal financial aid.

  • Farm Bureau offering scholarships

    Applications are now available for nurse practitioner scholarships through the Illinois Farm Bureau Rural Nurse Practitioner Scholarship Program.
    There will be five $4,000 scholarships granted this year.
    The scholarship program, now in its 21st year, helps encourage and develop the pool of rural health practitioners to help meet primary health care needs in rural Illinois.
    Students who receive scholarships agree to practice for two years in an approved rural area in Illinois.
