    'Learn to use your iPhone' Class
    The Kaskaskia College Continuing/Community Education Department will offer a course entitled “Learn To Use Your iPhone” at the Vandalia Campus on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 9 a.m.-noon.
    The registration number for this class is COED 8061 VA01W.
    This workshop will help students become more familiar with their Apple iPhones.  They will learn to add applications and send text messages, emails and pictures.

  • VCHS band places third at Effingham

    The Vandalia Community High School marching band placed third in its final marching competition of the season on Saturday afternoon at Effingham.
    The Marching Vandals were awarded third place overall, behind Newton and Breese Mater Dei. To earn the third-place overall ranking, the Vandalia band received third-place for drum majors, third-place for percussion and third-place for music.
    “We’ve competed there for years,” said VCHS director Tony Hicks, “but we’ve never placed overall. To place there is pretty good stuff.”

    Food services courses at Vandalia Campus
    Kaskaskia College will offer two food service courses this fall at the KC Vandalia Campus.
    A food service sanitation refresher course will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
    This course is intended to prepare and meet the needs of re-certification of the food service managers sanitation certification. This course will address all the requirements set by the Illinois Department of Health.

  • Walmart Provides Third Grant

    Vandalia Alumni and Friends Foundation has announced the awarding of a Walmart grant for the third year in a row.

    Walmart has helped support the Character Education Fund under the Vandalia Alumni and Friends Foundation. The program was first investigated five years ago and was started four years ago at Jefferson Elementary School. Today. it is being implemented in all of the schools.
