  • Luther Scholarship Winner

    The Kaskaskia College Foundation has named Ashlee Stich of Greenville (left) as the recipient of the Caroline Luther Memorial Scholarship.

    A graduate of Mulberry Grove High School, she is a freshman at KC pursuing certified nurse assistant degree. She is the daughter of Tammy Stich and Jeff Beard. Pictured with Stich is Mary Schulze, director of the KC Vandalia Campus. 

  • Bohner Scholarship Winner

     The Kaskaskia College Foundation recently awarded to Alex Newsom the Steve and Patti Bohner Scholarship in memory of Robert G. Burnside.

    Newsom is a 2013 graduate of Vandalia Community High School and is a freshman at KC pursuing an associate's degree. He later hopes to also attain a business degree. He is the son of Smokey and Amy Newsom. Pictured above, from left to right, are Patti Bohner, Newsom and Steve Bohner.

    'Learn to use your iPhone' Class
    The Kaskaskia College Continuing/Community Education Department will offer a course entitled “Learn To Use Your iPhone” at the Vandalia Campus on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 9 a.m.-noon.
    The registration number for this class is COED 8061 VA01W.
    This workshop will help students become more familiar with their Apple iPhones.  They will learn to add applications and send text messages, emails and pictures.

  • VCHS band places third at Effingham

    The Vandalia Community High School marching band placed third in its final marching competition of the season on Saturday afternoon at Effingham.
    The Marching Vandals were awarded third place overall, behind Newton and Breese Mater Dei. To earn the third-place overall ranking, the Vandalia band received third-place for drum majors, third-place for percussion and third-place for music.
    “We’ve competed there for years,” said VCHS director Tony Hicks, “but we’ve never placed overall. To place there is pretty good stuff.”
