  • Firsts in Section Competition

    The Vandalia FFA competed at the Section 19 Proficiency Awards on Wednesday, Feb. 15, at Nokomis High School.

    Dalton Whitten placed first overall in beef production placement, and Maddie Wilkerson finished first place overall in agriculture education.  They will advance to the district level at Sullivan High School on March 8.

  • FFA Alumni selling raffle tickets

    The Vandalia FFA Alumni are selling raffle tickets for a quarter beef, which includes the processing fee, with the drawing on Feb. 1. There will be four winners.
    Tickets are one for $10 or six for $50.
    The beef was donated by Brian Cripe, South Central FS, Sloan Implement  of Vandalia, Midland States Bank, Woolsey Brothers, First National Bank, MTS and Bluff Equipment.
    Those interested in purchasing a ticket should contact FFA adviser Mandy Totten at Vandalia Community High School at 283-5150.

    Intermediate Word class
    The Kaskaskia College Department of Industrial and Continuing Education will offer an intermediate Word class at the KC Vandalia Campus on Tuesdays, Jan. 31 and Feb. 7, from 1-3 p.m.
    The registration number for the class COED 5052 VA01D.
    Students will have hands-on learning with Microsoft Word as they work with documents and letters and learn about tables, cut and paste, highlighting and dragging text, screenshots and making envelopes and labels, and using mail merge for form letters and mass mailing labels. The cost is $20.

    Beginning digital photography class
    The Kaskaskia College Department of Industrial and Continuing Education will offer a beginning digital photography class at the Vandalia Campus on Monday and Wednesday, January 23 and 25, from 6-8 p.m.
    The registration number for the class is COED 5428 VA01E.
    Get to know your digital camera and learn to take superior images. You will learn techniques to improve your action, portrait, scenic, travel, outdoor, and wildlife portraits. Take your digital camera.
    The cost is $20.
