    FAYCO Enterprises of Vandalia will be hosting on May 23 Dr. Temple Grandin, a woman with autism who has become one of the leading advocates for people with autism.

  • Diekemper Donates To NF

    Megan Diekemper of Diekemper Photography, right, presents a check for $720 to Jordan Walk, to be donated to Neurofibromatosis research.

    Jordan suffers from the disease, and Diekemper Photography has donated the session fees from its annual Tutus and Ties children's special to fight the disease. Also pictured are Jordan's mother, Amanda, and her younger sister, Bella.

  • Sam Stock promoted to loan officer in Patoka

    The First National Bank recently announced that Sam Stock has been promoted to loan officer.  He started his new position on April 1.
    Stock, a St. Peter resident, graduated from Illinois State University with a bachelor’s degree in ag business and animal science. He is a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity and the Illinois State University National Ag Marketing Association. He began his career at First National Bank in March 2012, and is located at First National Bank in Patoka.

  • Janice Romack elected to FVC board

    First Vandalia Corp., parent company of The First National Bank, recently elected Greenville resident Janice Romack to serve on the board of directors at the annual stockholders' meeting.
    Romack, a partner of West & Company, LLC, a certified public accounting and consulting firm in Greenville, is a certified public accountant who has served clients in Southcentral Illinois for 29 years.  

  • First Vandalia Corp. gives 2012 highlights

    The annual stockholders’ meeting of First Vandalia Corp., parent company of The First National Bank, with locations in Vandalia, Ramsey, Patoka, Mulberry Grove and Greenville, was held on April 10 in Vandalia.
    Greenville CPA Janice Romack was elected to the board of directors. Current directors  Thomas L. McCarty and R. Wynn Provines were re-elected to serve three-year terms. They join current directors William E. Chappel, Todd Shulman, B. Rand Edwards, Ann M. Schwarm and Haldon E. Warner.

    Winnie Stortzum of Arcola, formerly of Vandalia,, recently received the top award from the real estate company for which she's an agent.

  • New Message Board for Chamber Sign

    A new digital LED message board recently was installed at the Vandalia Chamber of Commerce's sign on North Fifth Street in Vandalia.

    The 4-feet-by-12-feet board replaces the previous board, which used incandescent light bulbs. The sign will continue to advertise upcoming community events and chamber activities. Helping with the installation are Will Baldock, on forklift, and Rick Myers, on ladder. Also lending a hand were Wehrle Brothers Equipment, ADS Electric and John Ashdown.   • Mulberry Grove Grocery Changing Hands

    A retirement celebration, complete with cake and punch, was held Friday for Ernie and Ardith Carman, longtime owners of Carman’s Market in Mulberry Grove.
