Letter carriers food drive nets 2,400 lbs.

Members of the National Association of Letter Carriers at the Vandalia Post Office recently held a food drive.
The annual event is part of the nation’s oldest one-day food drive, which helps individuals and families who depend on alternative food sources.

Members of the local chapter of the Modern Woodmen of America recently helped beautify downtown Vandalia by planting flowers and spreading mulch in the flower beds around the Little Red Caboose in the municipal parking lot at the intersection of Fifth and Johnson streets.

Kevin and Jessica Satterthwaite of Pine Ridge Homes recently received the 2012 Manufactured Housing Industry award for Retail Sales Center of the Year in the Midwest. The award was presented at the MHI national awards ceremony in Las Vegas.
