  • Activity Directors Hold Luncheon

    The annual recognition luncheon for area nursing home activity directors and social services directors was held earlier this spring at Vandalia Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.

    Attending were representatives from Lutheran Care Center, Altamont; Friendship Manor, St. Elmo; Fayette County Long Term Care, Vandalia; and Vandalia Rehabilitation Health Care Center, Vandalia. Vandalia Mayor Rick Gottman was the speaker for the event.

  • Oldfield takes part in ISBA merger seminar

    David A. Oldfield, one of the attorneys of LeFevre Oldfield Myers Apke & Payne Law Group Ltd. recently attended a continuing legal education seminar on "Techniques and Traps for Merging Unincorporated Entities," sponsored by the Illinois State Bar Association.
    The seminar included a panel that discussed various issues dealing with unincorporated entities, such as partnerships and limited liability companies regarding their formations, liquidations, combinations, mergers and sales of the ownership interests.

  • Leader-Union wins six awards in SIEA contest

    The Leader-Union received six awards in the annual Better Newspaper Contest sponsored by the Southern Illinois Editorial Association.
    The awards were presented at the organization’s annual meeting on April 26 at Giant City State Park.

    Megan Diekemper of Diekemper Photography, right, presents a check for $720 to Jordan Walk, to be donated to Neurofibromatosis research.

    Jordan suffers from the disease, and Diekemper Photography has donated the session fees from its annual Tutus and Ties children's special to fight the disease. Also pictured are Jordan's mother, Amanda, and her younger sister, Bella.

  • Sam Stock promoted to loan officer in Patoka

    The First National Bank recently announced that Sam Stock has been promoted to loan officer.  He started his new position on April 1.
    Stock, a St. Peter resident, graduated from Illinois State University with a bachelor’s degree in ag business and animal science. He is a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity and the Illinois State University National Ag Marketing Association. He began his career at First National Bank in March 2012, and is located at First National Bank in Patoka.
