    COUNTRY Financial posted the lowest complaint ratio among Illinois auto, home and life insurers in 2011, according to the Illinois Department of Insurance (IDOI).
    The company has had the lowest auto complaint ratio for 12 of the past 13 years, and has ranked among the top two home insurers for the past 13 years.

  • Friendship Manor rated 5 stars

    Friendship Manor of St. Elmo recently received a five-star overall rating by Nursing Home Compare, a website within the medicare.gov website.
    The star ratings are given to each nursing home facility, based on their ratings in four categories: health inspections, staffing, quality ratings and overall rating. One star indicates “much below average,” two stars means “below average,” three stars is “average,” four stars is “above average,” and five stars means “much above average.”

  • Engel Brothers partners with SCHS

    Engel Brothers Ford of Farina and South Central High School are partnering on Saturday, Sept. 22, to help raise up to $6,000 in support of SCHS athletes and Future Business Leaders of America members as a part of Ford Motor Co.’s “Drive One 4 UR School” program.
    Members of the community will have the opportunity to raise money for the organizations by test-driving a Ford or Lincoln vehicle. For every person who test-drives a vehicle at the one-day event, Ford Motor Co. and Engel Brothers Ford will donate $20 to SCHS athletes and FBLA.

    A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held recently at Beautiful Chaos Dance Center in Vandalia.

    The new center is owned by Amanda McDowell, pictured in the front row to the right of Mayor Rick Gottman. It is located at 2525 Veterans Ave. She offers dance classes for children and adults from 3:30-8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The telephone number is 283-3269.
