  • First Vandalia Corp. holds its annual meeting

    The annual stockholders’ meeting of First Vandalia Corp., parent company of The First National Bank,  with locations in Vandalia, Ramsey, Patoka, Mulberry Grove and Greenville, was held on Wednesday April 9, at The First National Bank in Vandalia.
    Directors William E. Chappel, B. Rand Edwards, and Todd L. Shulman were re-elected to serve three-year terms.
    They join current directors Thomas L. McCarty, R. Wynn Provines, Janice K. Romack, Ann M. Schwarm, and Haldon E. Warner.

  • Legal assistants at Law Group complete courses

    Legal assistants Jill Mouser, ITP, and Megan Tegeler, IEP, of LeFevre Oldfield Myers Apke and Payne Law Group, recently completed courses offered by the Illinois Land Title Association.

    Those courses qualify them to be designated an Illinois Title Professional and an Illinois Escrow Professional. Those designations have become the recognized standard for professional achievement in the land title insurance industry in Illinois.
    Mouser and Tegeler are among only 140 people statewide who have achieved those designations.

  • FNB promotes Johnson to position of assistant risk officer, teller supervisor

    First National Bank has announced that Pam Johnson has been promoted to assistant risk officer and teller supervisor.  She started her new position on April 1.
    Johnson, a Vandalia resident, graduated from St. Elmo High School and has taken various classes at Kaskaskia College.  She began her career at First National Bank on Nov. 27, 2000, as a teller. She became a teller supervisor in 2009.
    “I am very excited about this new position, and am look forward to expanding my knowledge and experience in the banking industry,” Johnson said.

    Robert J. Dugan, First National Bank loan collector and staff appraiser, announced his retirement on March 28, from a career that began in 1987.

  • Pam Yates to retire after 45 years with FNB

    Pam Yates, First National Bank's senior vice-president and chief operations officer, has announced her retirement on April 30 from a career that began in 1969.

    ApexNetwork Physical Therapy held a ribbon-cutting ceremony last Thursday at its new facility in Vandalia.

    The physical therapy group is affiliated with Greenville Regional Hospital. The new office here is located at 1611 Veterans Ave. The telephone number is 283-9040.

  • Chamber hears program on new theater project

    With a capacity crowd jamming every space in the Lincoln Room at Ponderosa Restaurant, the Vandalia Chamber of Commerce last Wednesday heard a program about the movie theater that is slated to open in late May.

  • BNI Network Masters event this Saturday

    The local chapter of a business networking organization will be sponsoring a business expo at Vandalia Elementary School gymnasium this Saturday.
    The expo, which runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., will include booths prepared by members of BNI Network Masters from Vandalia and Greenville.
    Admission is free. Members of the Vandalia Community High School FFA chapter will provide food and beverages.
