    With most of the steel work now up, the new addition to Octochem Inc. is changing the appearance of the industrial area on Vandalia's north side.

    Located at 2090 Wagner St., Octochem is owned by Vandalia native Mark Langston and employs about 60 people.

    A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held last Friday at Wildlands Outdoor Equipment, which shares a storefront with D&S IT Solutions at 422 W. Gallatin St.

    Owned by Mat Hanabarger, center, the business sells camping and hiking equipment, plus military surplus items. 

  • D&S IT Solutions Ribbon Cutting

    A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held last Friday at D&S IT Solutions.

    Located at 422 W. Gallatin St., the business offers sales, service, networking and repair for all Windows-based computers – laptops, desktops, tablets or servers. Hours are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The owners of the business are Nathan Dothager and Cody Scott, second from left and third from left.

    Hosick Motors event benefits local school
    Hosick Motors helped raise more than $2,000 for Jefferson Primary School during the school's recent Fun Fair.
    The money was raised through a Chrysler Group promotion called "Drive for the Kids."
    More than 200 participants earned a $10 contribution to the school from Chrysler by taking a test drive in a Town & Country minivan.

  • Riedle opens law practice in Vandalia

    After attending college in Springfield, law school in Lawrence, Kan., and doing contract legal work for firms in the St. Louis area, Matthew Riedle has returned to his hometown of Vandalia to open his own law office.

  • Summer Breeze planning wedding show

    A wedding show will be held on Friday, Feb. 16, and Saturday,  Feb 17, at Summer Breeze Wine House in St. James.
    Hours for the show are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
    Several vendors already have signed up to attend, including Davis Bakery, Jill Wright Photography, Serenity Therapeutic Massage and Fayette County Real Estate, with others pending. Maranatha's Salon, Spa and Tanning will be a vendor  and will be selling new wedding dresses from the former Queen Bee bridal shop.
