Given Abraham Lincoln’s pervasive influence on Vandalia, it was natural to name a restaurant across the street from the Vandalia Statehouse after the 16th president. After all, it was in the majestic Statehouse where Lincoln cut his political teeth and launched his legal career.

Trish Elam to mark 20th anniversary at Timmermann & Co.

Trish Elam, a Certified Public Accountant at Timmermann & Co. of Vandalia will soon mark her 20-year anniversary with the company. Her anniversary date is Feb. 21.

"Trish is a valuable part of the staff at the accounting firm," said Timmermann. "It would be hard to imagine operating the business without her."
The business is located at 105 S. Fourth St. in Vandalia. 

Snider named FCH employee of month

Brandy Snider, certified nurse aide, has been named employee of the month at Fayette County Hospital and Long Term Care.

The U.S. Postal Service has scheduled a public meeting this Thursday evening to discuss moving some mail processing operations from the Effingham Customer Service Mail Processing Center to the Champaign Processing and Distribution Facility.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus' building in Effingham.
