  • New Message Board for Chamber Sign

    A new digital LED message board recently was installed at the Vandalia Chamber of Commerce's sign on North Fifth Street in Vandalia.

    The 4-feet-by-12-feet board replaces the previous board, which used incandescent light bulbs. The sign will continue to advertise upcoming community events and chamber activities. Helping with the installation are Will Baldock, on forklift, and Rick Myers, on ladder. Also lending a hand were Wehrle Brothers Equipment, ADS Electric and John Ashdown.     A retirement celebration, complete with cake and punch, was held Friday for Ernie and Ardith Carman, longtime owners of Carman’s Market in Mulberry Grove.

  • Two chamber officers moved up

    Members of the Vandalia Chamber of Commerce heard about changes in two officer positions and were informed about the planned installation of a new LED message board at the organization’s office on North Fifth Street at last Wednesday’s monthly meeting.

  • McCarter Office Ribbon-Cutting

    A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at the new district office of Sen. Kyle McCarter (R-Lebanon) in Vandalia on March 28. Located at 310 W. Gallatin, the office replaces his former district office in Highland.

  • Chamber seeking donations

    The Vandalia Chamber of Commerce is seeking donations to its college scholarship program.
    Each year, the organization awards two $500 scholarships – one to a graduating high school student and one to a non-traditional student. All recipients must have a connection to a member of the chamber – as an employee, child of an employee or the child of a member. Applications are due by March 29.

  • The Law Group conducts firm retreat in St. Louis

    LeFevre Oldfield Myers Apke  & Payne Law Group Ltd. held a weekend firm retreat on March 8-9. The focus of the retreat was ways to better serve the firm's clients.
    Attending the event at the Chase Park Plaza in St. Louis were Larry L. LeFevre, David A. Oldfield, James Richard Myers, Pamela J. Apke, Troy G. Payne and Michael P. Jones.
    Participants addressed the impact of technological innovations and the sharing of electronic information. The firm is seeking ways to better serve its clients through the Internet, e-mail and mobile communications.

  • FCH receives accreditation in mammography by ACR

    Fayette County Hospital has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in mammography as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology. Mammography is a specific type of imaging test that uses a low-dose X-ray system to examine breasts. A mammography exam, called a mammogram, is used to aid in the early detection and diagnosis of breast diseases.
