Dedicated to the furtherance of charitable and educational opportunities within the local community, the purpose of the White Family Foundation is to foster, promote, and facilitate the ongoing conduct of actions and activities which will both provide and promote educational and charitable opportunities at a local, community level, throughout Fayette County.

The Vandalia Chamber of Commerce is seeking donations to its college scholarship program.
Each year, the organization awards two $500 scholarships – one to a graduating high school student and one to a non-traditional student. All recipients must have a connection to a member of the chamber – as an employee, child of an employee or the child of a member. Applications are due by March 29.

Fayette County Hospital has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in mammography as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology. Mammography is a specific type of imaging test that uses a low-dose X-ray system to examine breasts. A mammography exam, called a mammogram, is used to aid in the early detection and diagnosis of breast diseases.

First National Bank recently started a program called "Jeans For Charity" in which employees can pay $10 per month for the opportunity to wear jeans on Fridays.

The money collected will be donated to area charities. The bank's Vandalia location started the program in January, donating the money raised to Second Chance Animal Rescue. The Patoka bank continued the promotion in February, donating their proceeds to the Patoka Food Pantry. Shown above – wearing their jeans – are staffers from Vandalia.
