  • Robert E. Miles

    Robert E. Miles, 52, of Vandalia, died Monday, Oct. 5, 2009, at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia.

    Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ward Sussenbach officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Auburn Cemetery.

    Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville. Masonic services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Vandalia Lodge No. 16.

    Memorial: Shriner’s Hospital.

    Mr. Miles was born on April 9, 1957 in Highland, the son of Gerald C. and Marjorie R. Miles.

  • Timothy Anthony Parham, 49, Colorado Springs, Colo.

    Timothy Anthony Parham, 49, of Colorado Springs, Colo. died Monday, Sept. 28, 2009, at his residence.

    Services were held in Cedaredge, Colo.

    Mr. Parham was born on Dec. 30, 1959, the son of Thomas E. Parham, Sr. and Frances Silvia Carpenter.

    He attended his senior year at Vandalia High School from 1977-1978, where he was a manager for the baseball team. He was a member of the U.S. airforce and a computer technician.

  • Marie Louise Schroder, 90, Altamont

    Marie Louise Schroder, 90, of Altamont, died at 10:05 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, at Lutheran Care Center in Altamont.

    Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Oct. 8, 2009 at the Kull Funeral Chapel in Altamont, and for one hour before the funeral service.

    Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Oct. 9, 2009, at the Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church, near Altamont, with the Rev. Clayton G. Vail officiating.

     Burial will be in the Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery, near Altamont.

  • Robert E. King, 83, Morrisonville

    Robert Eugene King, 83, of Morrisonville, died at 11:25 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 2, 2009, at his residence.

    Services were held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday at Perfetti Funeral Home in Morrisonville, with Pastor Chad Foster officiating. Graveside services were to be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Sidener Cemetery in rural St. Elmo. Visitation was held from 4-6:30 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials: Morrisonville Senior Citizens Center.

  • Margaret M. Rhodes, 87, St. Elmo

    Margaret Mary Rhodes, 87, of St. Elmo, died at 11:05 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, at Lutheran Care Center in Altamont.

  • Marcia Nickle, 87, Michigan

    Marcia Nickle, 87, of St. Ignace and Kincheloe, Mich., and formerly of the Vandalia area, died on Thursday, March 19, 2009, at Mackinac Straits Hospital Long Term Care in Michigan.

    An Eastern Star memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. this Friday in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Her cremains will be buried next to her husband, “Nick.” Dodson Funeral Home in St. Ignace, Mich., was in charge of arrangements.

  • Benjamin A. Trout Jr., 71, Vandalia

    Benjamin A. Trout Jr., 71, of Vandalia, died at 9:56 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia.

    Services will be held at a later date. Per Mr. Trout’s wishes, the body was cremated. Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: The family.

    Mr. Trout was born on Aug. 25, 1938, in Vandalia, the son of Benjamin Sr. and Clara Bell Garrett Trout. He married Margaret Schlenker on July 13, 1964.

    He was a retired truck driver, and he served in the Army.

    Charlene Eller, 95, of Decatur and formerly of Springfield and Bingham, died at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, at her residence.

    Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday at Allen and Sutton Funeral Home in Fillmore, with Pastor Wes Feltner officiating. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Fillmore. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Memorials: Tabernacle Baptist Church of Calvary Baptist Church, both of Decatur.

    Anton Joseph Matzker, 95, of Vandalia, died at 5:45 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18, 2009, at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia.

    Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday at Mother of Dolors Catholic Church in Vandalia, with the Rev. Joseph Havrilka officiating. Burial will be in Mother of Dolors Catholic Cemetery in Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of services at the church.
