  • All through the winter months, we have waited for spring and summer to arrive. We looked forward to the balmy days of spring and cool days of early summer.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Curtis (Lotz) Jenne of St. Peter will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2-4 p.m. this Sunday at St. Peter Village Hall.

  • Daniel Maske, a fourth year student at Concordia Lutheran Seminary in St. Louis, is shown in the first photo being sworn in as an ensign in the Chaplain Corps of the Navy by his father, the Rev. Steven Maske, a retired Navy lieutenant and pastor of Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Elgin.

  • Bill and Ann (Houston) Veal of rural Vernon celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

    They were married on Aug. 16, 1964, at the First United Methodist Church in Patoka.
    They are the parents of a daughter, Andrea (Mark) Britt of St. Peters, Mo., and a son Brent Veal, deceased. They have two granddaughters, Kathryn "Kate" and Lauren Britt.

  • Verlin and Marcia Haslett celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 3 at their home in Fleming Island, Fla.

    Mark and Leanne Rinehart of Vandalia are the parents of twin boys born on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at St. Mary’s Health Center in St. Louis, Mo.
    Brody Ryan, born at 6:44 p.m., weighed 4 pounds, 13 ounces and was 17.7 inches long, and Nolan Richard, born at 6:45 p.m., weighed 4 pounds 3 ounces, and was 17.3 inches long.
    They have a sister, Caroline, age 2.

  • Amanda “Mina” Kleinik and Luke Perkins have announced their engagement and upcoming marriage.

  • Beth Campbell and Justin “JJ” Hawk, both of Vandalia, have announced their engagement and upcoming marriage.

  • Rhodes
    The 56th Rhodes reunion will be held at noon on Sunday at the blue building in St. Elmo Park.
    Meat, drinks and table service will be provided, and those attending are asked to take a covered dish. They may also take an item for a door prize.
     

  • Erna Gehle
    Erna Gehle, formerly of the St. Paul community in southeast Fayette County, will celebrate her 100th birthday on Aug. 29.
    She was born on Aug. 29, 1914, the daughter of Otto and Emma Gehle.
