  • Wilma Kruger, a life-long resident of the area, doesn’t recall when she began entering the competitions at the Fayette County Fair; she only remembers that it has been many years.

  • The late Clifford Nickels, who lived on the road now known as Ill. Route 185, across from the area on which the 4-Mile Store once stood, shared many of his memories of the long-ago days of his youth.

    Mahala Harpster of Villa Ridge, Mo., spent Friday night at the home of her parents, Dane and Belinda Harpster of St. Peter.
    Owen Harpster of Cape Girardeau, Mo., spent Friday and Saturday night at the home of his grandparents, Dane and Belinda Harpster of St. Peter. Mitch and Gretchen Harpster joined them on Saturday night.
    Graduation Parties
    Dane, Belinda, Mitch, Gretchen and Owen Harpster attended the graduation party of Haley and Seth Bergmann of St. Peter on Saturday night.

  • Belated Mother’s Day Recognition
    Sneaking a peek at our neighbor’s longhorn pasture, we caught an endearing picture of a mother longhorn cow and her baby. This is a rather rare close-up, as these cows don’t know us that well and they usually get between us and the baby, which this mother did a few seconds later.
    In the background, you can see the daddy longhorn keeping an eye on us, and he joined the mother in shielding their baby a few minutes later.

    • For Brenda Sapp, the St. Elmo FFA is sponsoring a car wash from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Pork burgers also will be sold.
