  • Richards
    The 53rd annual Richards family reunion was held on Sept. 19, at Rogier Park pavilion, with 84 members and guests attending.
    The reunion included a basket dinner and visiting.
    A business meeting was called to order by President Bruce Richards. The 2009 minutes and financial reports were given by the secretary/treasurer, Jamie Elmore.

  • Ross and Carolyn Kershaw of Vandalia will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Monday, Nov. 1, with a family celebration hosted by their daughter.
    Ross and the former Carolyn Probst were married on Nov. 1, 1960, in Vandalia. Their attendants were Gracie Carmen and Frank Revisky.
    Carolyn is the daughter of the late Irvin and Marian Probst. She is a retired homemaker. Ross is the son of the late Cecil W. and Helen Kershaw. He is retired from Ameren.

  • Charles and Marilyn Francis of Vandalia will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary this Thursday.
    Charles and the former Marilyn Noffsinger were married on Oct. 28, 1950, by the late Rev. J.H. Reeter.
    Marilyn is the daughter of the late Samuel and Dora Noffsinger. Charles is the son of the late Adolph and Rachel Francis.
    Charles and Marilyn were owner/operators of Charles Carpet and Upholstery for several years, and Charles helped organize and was active in the Okaw Saddle Club, where he showed quarter horses.

  • WJLY Christian Radio of Ramsey will be celebrating 20 years of broadcasting as it conducts its annual Share-athon fundraiser this Thursday through Saturday.
    During this year's Share-athon, funds will be raised for the station's operating budget, as well as for materials to finish the building.

    Monday was a picture-perfect autumn day. The sun was shining, the air was cool and the trees were beginning to show their colors. I welcome the cooler weather after what seemed like a long, hot summer.
    Evergreen Outreach is once again meeting at Wesley Hall at First United Methodist Church following several months at Fayette County Long Term Care.
