  • WJLY Christian Radio of Ramsey will be celebrating 20 years of broadcasting as it conducts its annual Share-athon fundraiser this Thursday through Saturday.
    During this year's Share-athon, funds will be raised for the station's operating budget, as well as for materials to finish the building.

    Monday was a picture-perfect autumn day. The sun was shining, the air was cool and the trees were beginning to show their colors. I welcome the cooler weather after what seemed like a long, hot summer.
    Evergreen Outreach is once again meeting at Wesley Hall at First United Methodist Church following several months at Fayette County Long Term Care.

    Anita Griffin of Vandalia will celebrate her 90th birthday with an open house from 1:30-3:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 6, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church Augsburg parish hall.
    All friends are invited to attend the reception, which is being hosted by her family. No gifts, please. A card shower has also been requested.

  • Twenty-five years ago, a 15-year-old girl stood at a hospital nursery window and told her baby son goodbye, with hopes and dreams for his future that she would be unable to give him, and believing that their separation on this earth would be forever.
    “The first time I saw you through a window, I said goodbye, and hoped you would understand, and hoped my dreams for your future would come true.”

  • Fall festival Oct. 24 at Liberty Christian

    Liberty Christian Church in rural Brownstown will hold its annual fall festival on Sunday, Oct. 24, at 5 p.m. in the church pavilion.

    The event, planned by the youth team, will offer something for the entire family – a bonfire, hayrides, music and a devotion time.

    Participants are asked to bring lawn chairs, hot dogs and buns for their family, soda and the ingredients for making s’mores.

    Hot chocolate, coffee and hot cider will be provided.
